Service Description

We as home educators know our children better than anyone! We see them grow and change, emotionally, socially, physically and academically each year as they naturally progress on their own timeline encouraged through a learning environment that is just right for them. I am an experienced educator that highly values whole-child education and aims to deeply understand child development. My background as a public high school science teacher, a private Montessori adolescent guide, a citizen science curriculum developer, a nature program leader, and a homeschool parent provide the extensive perspective needed to evaluate children’s growth. I pride myself on the work I do with families that brings more joy and harmony to their lives, and I truly believe that joy within the family leads to harmony within communities and peace in the greater world. My portfolio consultations reflect these values. There are only a few requirements for the state of New Hampshire homeschool portfolios and Granite State Home Educators discusses them on their website, https://granitestatehomeeducators.org/testing-evaluations/portfolios/. The essence of the law is stated here: “New Hampshire statute requires portfolios include a list of books the child read (it doesn't have to be comprehensive) plus a sampling of work from different points throughout the year.” While this information may be enough, sometimes we all need a little extra support. Perhaps it is your first year homeschooling and you are feeling overwhelmed, maybe you consider yourself more of a ‘chaotic type’ and have trouble keeping organized in general, or you are just looking to improve your record keeping strategy to something that fits your family lifestyle better. Whatever it is, if you feel like you want or need a little help in preparing your child’s homeschool portfolio I am here. During your 1-on-1 portfolio consultation we will discuss a variety of topics including but not limited to: the type of homeschooling you do, the types of knowledge and skills you find valuable, the qualities/attributes and interests of your children, and organizational and record keeping strategies that typically work for you. Together we will use this conversation to develop a portfolio plan that you feel good about following through on during your homeschool year.
